Fire Guts North Valley Home

(WEEK) –A Peoria Fire Investigator is looking into the cause of a house fire in Peoria’s North Valley late Sunday.

Firefighters responded to a house in the 500 block of Van Buren just before midnight to find a two-story house with heavy fire on the first floor extending to the house’s rear and the second floor.

Exterior flames were knocked down quickly before firefighters entered the house to put out the flames on the second floor. The fire burned out the staircase to the second floor, so crews gained access to the second floor through ladders from outside to bring the fire under control.

One person lived in the house. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
