UPDATE 3:30 P.M.
EAST PEORIA, Ill. — At approximately 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Peoria Police Detectives found the body of Mona Ellison behind a residential structure in a densely wooded area in the 100 block of Woodrow Drive in East Peoria.
“East Peoria Police were on scene and provided assistance. The Tazewell County coroner arrived and took custody of the body,” Dotson said.
Foul play is suspected. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.
The autopsy to determine cause and manner of death will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 22.

PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police were called around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 3500 block of NE Brevis on reports of a missing person.
Peoria Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said 50-year-old Mona Ellison is 5-foot tall, with green eyes and long blonde hair.
Ellison has not been seen or heard from in several days.
